Pietro Baglietto started his dream of founding the historic Shipyard. In the beginning, Baglietto specialized in small fishing boats, but then the Shipyard went into designing and building yachts. For over 165 years, we have delivered yachts that stand the test of time. These queens of the sea have a unique and contemporary design and follow our tailored approach, which combines tradition and innovation with excellent materials and high customization. The result is yachts as elegant and extraordinary as the Baglietto owners. In 2012, Baglietto Shipyard was acquired by the Gavio family, one of the most solid industrial family groups in Italy. The acquisition propelled a new journey for the Shipyard. Beniamino Gavio not only a boat builder but above all a ship-owner with a great passion for the sea. Thanks to this passion I acquired this brand which represents the icon of Italian boating since 1854. Baglietto’s impressive endeavour is not limited to activities dedicated to the construction of these vessels, but also concerns the important activity of developing and designing new models which form equal bases for future development and consolidation. Each of these projects consistently follows the fundamental conceptual lines distinguishing the yachts of past success, both in the recognisability of the style and in absolute observance of the marine qualities of sturdiness, reliability and safety which have always strongly characterised Baglietto vessels.

Helping artisans of all disciplines to find work and ply their trade with pride. Matching projects to professionals and vice versa. As Heritage Doyenne, Carolina’s primary contribution to this unique initiative, is to encourage the participation of Heritage Ambassadors. The Riva story is all about the unique, inimitable savoir-faire that is the secret of its winning beauty and style today and has always been from the very beginning. It was 1842, and on Lake Iseo, a sudden storm had devastated the fishing fleet. Yet a young shipwright was working wonders, restoring many of the vessels to full seagoing health and earning the local people’s respect and admiration in the process. And so the Riva legend was born and, with it, that of Pietro Riva, who took his destiny in his hands the moment he arrived in the little town of Sarnico. Here, he opened the yard where he would launch the first Riva creations, a craft of outstanding personality and class even then. Riva rapidly gained an excellent reputation, and the yard continued to flourish under Pietro’s son Ernesto, who introduced boats powered by internal combustion engine. After World War I, it was Serafino Riva who gave the firm its definitive stamp, transforming the yard’s prestigious products into a genuine brand that would make yachting history. Production shifted from transport vessels to motorboats, still an embryonic market in those days. And in November 1962, the legend was born: Aquarama. Her magical lines and irresistible allure made her an instant classic – the Riva icon, “the boat” par excellence, a brand within a brand. In May 2000, Riva became part of Ferretti Group, who restored it to where it is today, at the vanguard of world boating as a recognised icon of fine Italian yachting artistry. This felicitous journey is down to the know-how of the group Engineering department and the sensibility of designer Mauro Micheli, co-founder with Sergio Beretta of Officina Italiana Design, the studio that exclusively designs the whole Riva fleet. In 2012, Ferretti Group announced a new majority shareholder: Shandong Heavy Industry Group (Weichai Group) of China, a true industrial giant, one of the world’s most important conglomerates in the automotive, commercial vehicles and construction machinery sectors. Weichai’s strength and strategic vision have enabled Riva to make yet another leap forward, with a flow of projects and resources assured for the long term. In 2014, the brand signalled its return to the megayacht sector, with the new Riva Superyachts division. The dream of creating Riva steel and alluminium displacement superyachts is very much inspired by Carlo Riva. His ambition and restless genius spurred him to reach for new horizons, with the celebrated Caravelle and Atlantic series megayachts in the ’60s and ’70s and, from 1970 to 1978, the six over-20-metre motor yachts in the Marco Polo series plus a 90- and a 100-foot Vespucci.

We are Riaan & Andre van Helsdingen, twin brothers with a big dream. We started out as a small company with nothing but a welding machine on loan from a friend and a big dream - to build high quality trailers that made us a household name. Twin Trailers was born in 1992 and 3000 trailers later our other passion - boats - would no longer stay asleep. In 1998 our company started building boats and trailers therefore establishing ourselves as Twin Boats & Trailers. The first boats we built were ideal for a family of 4, and soon the range expanded. After introducing the Sensation Boat range at the Floating Boat Show in Denmark in 2000, and at the Dusseldorf Boat Show in Germany in 2001, the international orders started pouring in. We started off with only 9 employees, and now employ almost 80. Along with the expansion in production came the need for the expansion of floor space. From our humble beginnings under a tree in the backyard to building a factory (comprising of 5500m²) on the R59 Highway we have come a long way. During 2003 we won the coveted Business Man of the Year award. Since then, we have been awarded many accolades which now decorate our office walls. We manufacture our products with pride - personally inspecting every boat that leaves our factory to ensure that it is built to the highest standards. In 2006, we were introduced to vacuum infusion by a well-known French company and quickly saw the benefits; after making a decision to use the vacuum infusion as part of the manufacturing process of our boats - a first for any boat builder in South Africa. This has enabled us to offer a lifelong hull warranty on our product – again – the first and only boat manufacturer in South Africa to do so. People are often amazed when they are told that we both suffer from dyslexia and left school at the end of Grade 9 (Standard 7). This has encouraged us to give back to our community where needed. Since 2007, we have hosted the annual Celebrity Ice Block Challenge where actors and artists are invited to race against each other to raise funds for various charities. We are often guests on television and radio programs promoting boating and boat racing by encouraging people of all ages to believe in their dreams. Since 1994, we are truly seen as leaders in the South African boat building and boat manufacturing business.

The Royal Cape Yacht Club is one of South Africa’s most active and oldest yacht clubs. Located in Cape Town, the Club plays host to many important national sailing events, including South Africa’s premier ocean yacht race, the internationally renowned Cape to Rio. The Club was founded as the Table Bay Yacht Club in 1905 and commenced operation as such in a waterside boatshed located some 50 to 60 metres northward of the foot of Loop Street. Surviving early vicissitudes, the club’s name was changed in 1914 to the Cape Yacht Club which incorporated the Alfred Rowing Club and shortly after we received the Royal Charter to become the Royal Cape Yacht Club. Buffeted by change we moved from clubhouse to clubhouse, and it was not until the decade after the 2nd World War (1939 – 1945) that the shell of the present clubhouse came to be erected. It was added to when the local yachting boom – started by the first Trans-Atlantic Race from Cape Town to Rio de Janeiro in 1971 – took off and changed the Club from a small membership of around 300 to the present figure of some 3000. Boat accommodation was forced to progress from swing moorings to the marina’s of today. Likewise control had to pass from amateur committees to the professional staff which you will find today. The Royal Cape Yacht Club sits at the foot of Africa, a quiet enclave tucked away in the bustle of Cape Town’s docks. It is a prime location for sailors looking for respite from stormy weather and the club has hosted thousands of weary sailors over the years. The Club hosts important sailing events including the Country’s premier keelboat regattas. The Cape to Rio and South Atlantic Races have been hosted by Royal Cape Yacht Club since inception in 1971. Other international events have included the Whitbread Race, the BT Global Challenge, The BOC Around Alone Race, the Volvo Race, The Lisbon Expo 98, Clippers, and the Hong Kong Challenge, to name but a few. Down the centuries, the Southern tip of the African continent, has extended a welcome to seafarers, gaining for the city the soubriquet of the “Tavern of the Seas”.

Balance Catamarans is a story of passionate invention and collaboration between some of the world’s finest and most storied catamaran designers and builders. Our team of designers, engineers, and builders came together to craft the finest adventure catamarans on the planet. At Balance, we are hard-focused on achieving a perfect harmony between comfort at anchor as well as safety and performance underway. We neither set out to produce charter cats nor racing cats, but high speed bluewater voyagers of uncompromising quality. We know that the demands of the sea have not changed since the days of the early Polynesian catamaran explorers and that however fashionable it may be to have a spacious and glitzy yacht, or a head turning racing cat, ultimately our vessels must be designed and built to cope with the worst weather nature can deliver. We are a team of pragmatic, serious sailors who believe that a catamaran that pounds too hard, or cannot sail smartly into the wind, or that can’t run swiftly and safely before a raging sea is simply not safe. In our view, a catamaran that is not easily operated short-handed, too complex to maintain and sustain, which cannot carry cruising payloads, or is too cramped to make life enjoyable defeats the entire purpose of voyaging. The Balance team has been listening very carefully to – and learning from – hundreds of catamaran sailors on the features they most want and need in a live-aboard voyaging catamaran. Careful notes have been taken and used in each design so that Balance Catamarans lives up to its mission of restoring harmony to bluewater catamaran sailors. After managing the sale of hundreds of catamarans over the past decade – new and used – we’ve learned how catamarans are built, visiting just about every major factory in the world, how they break and fall apart, how they sail in the most dangerous conditions, which systems tend to work and fail, and how they are “really” used by sailors. We’ve concluded that none of the catamarans currently offered by the major production builders are ideally suited to the needs, budgets, and performance expectations of today’s committed liveaboard voyagers. The catamaran market has simply focused too much on the charter trade and lost the ideal balance of performance, comfort, quality, and practical seamanlike features required by serious sailors. Balance Catamarans are unique because they were designed solely for liveaboard performance voyaging by Anton Du Toit, Roger Hill, Jonathan Paarman, and Phillip Berman in close collaboration. They result directly from the enormous fund of experience they have gained through sea trials, numerous builds and designs, owner feedback and the collective result of millions of blue water miles. There really is no substitute for experience and the direct relationships we have had, both individually, and with hundreds of catamaran sailors, has given us the invaluable feedback we’ve relied upon in the design of each Balance Catamaran that we build.

For more than 40 years, Heesen has pursued a consistent mission: to create yachts with exceptional standards of engineering and meticulous attention to detail. To achieve this, skilled hands, driven by a passion for perfection, make all the difference. They are able to fulfil every customer’s dream. Our craftsmanship is matched with a hunger for innovation, creating designs that continuously push the limit. But the Heesen experience goes beyond building a perfect yacht. It’s all about exceeding the client’s expectations with first-class service at all times. Founding father Frans Heesen had no idea of the adventure awaiting him when he acquired Striker Boats back in 1978. Now, almost four decades later, he has built a company renowned for producing some of the finest superyachts in the world. And although he stepped back from the company in 2012, his mission to create yachts that push the boundaries still lives on today. Though based on our proven engineering platform and tested hulls, each one of our semi-custom series is characterized by its own unique exterior design. A semi-custom superyacht represents the perfect choice for clients who want to rely on proven design while still being able to personalise the yacht to their taste and lifestyle. Heesen was the first superyacht build. The semi-custom proposition has parallels within the automotive industry, where even the most exclusive brands produce in lines rather than designing fully bespoke cars. The overall design and engineering is shared, but clients have the opportunity to completely customize their car through a range of options to make it their own. The semi-custom lines at Heesen work in the same way, but offer even greater potential for customization. Clients can decide on an existing hull type and superstructure and then personalise their yacht with their own choice of materials, colour schemes and interior outfitting, creating something that is one of a kind. When it comes to custom yacht building, Heesen can fulfil every client’s wish. Each one-off creation is designed to fully embody the owner’s vision and is coupled with Heesen’s exceptional standard of engineering and meticulous attention to detail. If you can dream it, Heesen can build it.

Born and raised in South-Africa by a single mother in humble surroundings. Doing Taekwondo for years and attained my International black belt with the following principles, this was apart of my childhood that guided me into my adult life: Showing courtesy to others no matter what level of society labelled them; training continuously whether I was up for it or not; showing integrity, even when no one was watching; perseverance when I wanted to give up; self control when it was difficult to compose myself and learning from my couch to have a indomitable Spirit. Finishing school it was expected of me to follow in the "Afrikaaner Man's" footsteps to have a job where you work many long hours a day, week in and week out, get your salary, sleep and repeat. My passion for music gave me the confidence to follow my heart and to head towards Cape Town for a short holiday, but I ended up staying here and studied for Audio Engineering, whilst completing my studies and gaining experience in the industry. COVID19 affected the industry drastically and I had decided to use my spare time productively by enrolling in courses such as Social Media marketing and Programming. I also started a small business where I rent out my sound equipment and host small gatherings and events. Helping friends with their business promotions and seeing how people enjoyed the events I have hosted, it made me realize that I have a passion to better others and their circumstances. Following my dreams against all odds lead me to where I am today and to appreciate every single moment by not wondering about the past or worrying about the future. Focusing on the task at hand and having it complete well within the deadline is what I strive to achieve and I love learning and gaining knowledge along the way to further myself in everything and anything I get the opportunity for. I am ready for new challenges and know that having a healthy work balance will help me to reach my full potential.
