I am a 26-year-old woman, born and raised in Johannesburg where I have lived my entire life. One of my biggest aspirations is to travel across South Africa and eventually the world. Although I was bred a city girl, my heart lies at sea. Another one of my aspirations is to own a home along the South African coast, within walking distance to the beach. I have been known as a bookworm since childhood. I always preferred to have my nose in a book rather than watching cartoons, hence my passions are reading, writing, and editing. Taking my love for books into account, I decided to study English literature, linguistics, and journalism. I have a great love for animals, and I currently have four dogs and a cat. I also love being out in nature. I am always keen to go hiking, take a trip to the beach, or take the dogs for a walk in the park. Another one of my interests is fashion. I have my own sewing machine and often create clothing for myself. I believe we are all responsible for our actions, and we decide where we want to go in life. I think if you want to do something, and you believe you can do it, you can. All you have to do is put in the effort. Nothing comes easy, but if you put the work in you will achieve your goals and be anything you want to be. This is something I live by. I also think that building relationships and being able to work with others is extremely important. Succeeding in your endeavors often depends on how you work with and treat people, not just on what you can accomplish on your own. I have only started my journey, but I am looking forward to experiencing new things, building good relationships, and making the most out of every situation or opportunity.

The Royal Cape Yacht Club is one of South Africa’s most active and oldest yacht clubs. Located in Cape Town, the Club plays host to many important national sailing events, including South Africa’s premier ocean yacht race, the internationally renowned Cape to Rio. The Club was founded as the Table Bay Yacht Club in 1905 and commenced operation as such in a waterside boatshed located some 50 to 60 metres northward of the foot of Loop Street. Surviving early vicissitudes, the club’s name was changed in 1914 to the Cape Yacht Club which incorporated the Alfred Rowing Club and shortly after we received the Royal Charter to become the Royal Cape Yacht Club. Buffeted by change we moved from clubhouse to clubhouse, and it was not until the decade after the 2nd World War (1939 – 1945) that the shell of the present clubhouse came to be erected. It was added to when the local yachting boom – started by the first Trans-Atlantic Race from Cape Town to Rio de Janeiro in 1971 – took off and changed the Club from a small membership of around 300 to the present figure of some 3000. Boat accommodation was forced to progress from swing moorings to the marina’s of today. Likewise control had to pass from amateur committees to the professional staff which you will find today. The Royal Cape Yacht Club sits at the foot of Africa, a quiet enclave tucked away in the bustle of Cape Town’s docks. It is a prime location for sailors looking for respite from stormy weather and the club has hosted thousands of weary sailors over the years. The Club hosts important sailing events including the Country’s premier keelboat regattas. The Cape to Rio and South Atlantic Races have been hosted by Royal Cape Yacht Club since inception in 1971. Other international events have included the Whitbread Race, the BT Global Challenge, The BOC Around Alone Race, the Volvo Race, The Lisbon Expo 98, Clippers, and the Hong Kong Challenge, to name but a few. Down the centuries, the Southern tip of the African continent, has extended a welcome to seafarers, gaining for the city the soubriquet of the “Tavern of the Seas”.

Rossinavi, born in 2007 a brand evolution from the Cantiere Fratelli Rossi. A love passed on down the generations for things nautical, including a love for the absolute value of the Person and the Work itself. Pure carpentry and workshop practice geared to achieving what is wished for, human relations and craftsmanship that have an eye to the future, untold experience in the way of construction, thanks to theory and practice being brought together under the one roof: knowing and knowing how, without drawing a line between the two. Stylistic simplicity and reliability deriving from decades of know-how, making it possible, today, to shape material as we want it to be shaped, giving form to works of art made to measure, solid and safe, born to take on the sea at its limits, where it is explored. Each Rossinavi boat is launched into the waves as an act of memory, bearing witness to the traditions of the sea that have been matured in us. Boats that will have a history of their own to tell, stretching like arrows out into the broad expanse of the world’s oceans... The company’s production is distributed among three facilities between Viareggio and Pisa, all newly constructed and designed adopting the necessary prevention and protection measures, a fundamental characteristic for obtaining excellence while improving the working conditions of the workers involved in the projects. The whole of so many specifics in a boat, given the layouts, the perspectives, proportions and footage, pursuing the proper engineering processes, is what drives the exigencies of a constructive process by set rules. The one-off boats that come out of the Officine Rossinavi are so because the individual parts they are made up of are just that, one-off. And each and every part, each solution, is excellent because the boatyard’s construction philosophy, its very essence, is to build well, with the awareness that comes from working experience. Each part in its place: a rigorousness born of experience, of vision and the capacity to imagine the boat sailing through the thousand and one journeys that the sea, in all its freedom, will write upon it. Super Sport 65 and Super Sport 50 are a nod to Aurea, the brand’s first collaboration with Rossinavi introduced in 2017, and focus on a project that connect the bow to the stern with a single line, dressing it with incredibly captivating and sporting features. The automotive reference to Pininfarina’s world-famous Gran Turismo is evident in the three concepts, especially in the upper deck which echoes the design and proportion of such sports cars while still guaranteeing large spaces for outdoor entertainment featuring several lounge areas. The sinuous design of the main staircase is inspired by the air intakes of the most performing road vehicles and merges organically into the floor to ceiling windows. Pininfarina’s deep knowledge of elegance and innovation in both interior and exterior design allows offering a highly enjoyable and voluminous environment, combining at the same time a dynamic and sleek style with all the essential comforts for an exclusive navigation experience.

The Riva story is all about the unique, inimitable savoir-faire that is the secret of its winning beauty and style today and has always been from the very beginning. It was 1842, and on Lake Iseo, a sudden storm had devastated the fishing fleet. Yet a young shipwright was working wonders, restoring many of the vessels to full seagoing health and earning the local people’s respect and admiration in the process. And so the Riva legend was born and, with it, that of Pietro Riva, who took his destiny in his hands the moment he arrived in the little town of Sarnico. Here, he opened the yard where he would launch the first Riva creations, a craft of outstanding personality and class even then. Riva rapidly gained an excellent reputation, and the yard continued to flourish under Pietro’s son Ernesto, who introduced boats powered by internal combustion engine. After World War I, it was Serafino Riva who gave the firm its definitive stamp, transforming the yard’s prestigious products into a genuine brand that would make yachting history. Production shifted from transport vessels to motorboats, still an embryonic market in those days. And in November 1962, the legend was born: Aquarama. Her magical lines and irresistible allure made her an instant classic – the Riva icon, “the boat” par excellence, a brand within a brand. In May 2000, Riva became part of Ferretti Group, who restored it to where it is today, at the vanguard of world boating as a recognised icon of fine Italian yachting artistry. This felicitous journey is down to the know-how of the group Engineering department and the sensibility of designer Mauro Micheli, co-founder with Sergio Beretta of Officina Italiana Design, the studio that exclusively designs the whole Riva fleet. In 2012, Ferretti Group announced a new majority shareholder: Shandong Heavy Industry Group (Weichai Group) of China, a true industrial giant, one of the world’s most important conglomerates in the automotive, commercial vehicles and construction machinery sectors. Weichai’s strength and strategic vision have enabled Riva to make yet another leap forward, with a flow of projects and resources assured for the long term. In 2014, the brand signalled its return to the megayacht sector, with the new Riva Superyachts division. The dream of creating Riva steel and alluminium displacement superyachts is very much inspired by Carlo Riva. His ambition and restless genius spurred him to reach for new horizons, with the celebrated Caravelle and Atlantic series megayachts in the ’60s and ’70s and, from 1970 to 1978, the six over-20-metre motor yachts in the Marco Polo series plus a 90- and a 100-foot Vespucci.

In 1981, after 89 years of commercial operation, the Port of Preston closed. The town of Preston was faced with the question of what to do with a 40 acre basin of water just outside of the town centre. It did not take long before the idea of redeveloping the docklands area into a leisure/retail and residential centre emerged, with a marina at its heart. It was never going to be easy, with a location that is up an extremely tidal and shallow river some 16 miles from the rough and exposed Irish Sea , it could hardly be argued to an ideal place to start a marina. Many prominent figures from the worlds of yachting and business looked at and then shied away from the idea, but one Preston based yachtsman, whose small road transport business had regularly worked from the Port thought that although Preston will never be an ideal cruising ground, perhaps with a lot of hard work and some creative and diverse thinking Preston Marina might be a useful winter base for boat owners from the North West of England, and so formed a Company. In 1985, before the surrounding land was re-developed, a “trial version” of Preston Marina was opened, initially with only 6 swinging moorings in the dock basin and not much else around – but gradually boats started to come – and indeed found us to be the useful winter or laying-up base that was at the heart of the concept. A lot has happened since 1985….with fully serviced pontoon berths, boatyard, chandlery and lifestyle shop and a very popular water-side coffee shop (all of which opened in April 1990), Preston Marina has become a hub of Lancashire’s small but vibrant boating community as well as the jewel in the crown of the City (since 2002) of Preston’s Riversway Docklands.

Pershing Yacht has been designing, producing and marketing luxury “open” motor yachts for over 30 years, and now boasts a firmly established position as one of the leading names in the “Made in Italy” fibreglass open yacht sector. The Pershing range stands out for its superior performance, constantly researched style, top quality materials and painstakingly designed interiors that offer ultimate comfort. Advanced construction methods, powerful engines reaching 7400 MHP and the use of surface propellers, hydrojets and gas turbines all combine to give Pershing yachts a distinctively sporting trim and peak speeds of up to 52 knots. Passion, creativity and continuous research of innovation have always been the primary values of the Pershing philosophy, qualities that have been growing up with the brand since the beginning. The story of Pershing is a fascinating one, originated by the lucky intuition of three friends with a profound passion for boating. Tilli Antonelli, Fausto Filippetti and Giuliano Onori set out on this exciting adventure in 1981 combining fun with passion and initiative. The same year the Cantieri Navali dell’Adriatico was founded and the first boat was launched. Four years later, in 1985, after the meeting with Yacht Designer, Fulvio De Simoni, the Pershing idea came into being. Thus, the first Pershing 45’ was designed, an open yacht, which became a huge success, thanks to its new standards of comfort and privacy that had hitherto been the exclusive domain of classic motoryachts. The early 1990s marked a turning point for the shipyard, as it began an inspired policy of internationalization towards Mediterranean countries, the United States and the Far East. In 1998, the company joined the Ferretti Group, a leading enterprise in the luxury yacht sector, and this wonderful adventure continues to this day with new premises and with the same enthusiasm with which it started out. Pershing yachts are produced in the Mondolfo yard (located right in front of the original yard), a futuristic site of 55,000 square metres - of which more than 38,400 in the open air - designed by the architect Sandro Sartini. Much more than a simple production centre: this is a striking scenario that couples beauty, technological functionality and dream, a space designed in every detail to cater for steady development of production and the product range enlargement, also in terms of size of yachts. The new production site features a large and innovative painting booth of 440 sq m, where boats are dry painted. The test basin (33 m lenght, 7.5 m wide and 2.3 m deep) is used for all hydraulic tests (engines, exhausts, bilges and generators) and for waterproofing tests of yachts. The travel lift, with a carrying capacity of 130 tons, completes activities with ship haulage and launching in the test basin. The company’s unrelenting search for new stimuli and new directions for international growth is demonstrated by the way it has developed its know-how in order to adapt certain models to meet the demands of a wide range of markets. The Pershing range stands out for its superior performance, constantly researched style, top quality materials and painstakingly designed interiors offering ultimate comfort. Advanced construction methods, powerful engines reaching 7400 MHP and the use of surface propellers, hydro jets and gas turbines all combine to give Pershing yachts a distinctively sporting trim and peak speeds of up to 52 knots. Pershing primarily targets a demanding, but sports-oriented type of customer, offering a wide range of yachts offering not only high performance, but comfort with truly liveable interiors and exteriors. The yachts are produced in the new facility in Mondolfo (Pesaro-Urbino), characterized by innovative technological-production solutions.
